The disease that contributes the most to the appearance of lameness, clinical and subclinical, is erosive digital dermatitis, and inter-digital dermatitis, which can be found in all cows, especially during the first 60 days of lactation.

All around the world this disease remains the main reason for significant financial losses, direct and indirect, and is the reason for reduction of cattle’s performance.

The main factor which causes these diseases is common hoof contamination, mostly due to manure, in which pathogenic microorganisms appear, and which forms a barrier for the action of disinfectants and reduces their efficiency. This leads to frequent changes of disinfectant solutions, higher water consumption, and a general increase of total costs associated with the hoof bath.

To fight dermatitis, a new bath for hoof cleaning using brushes was developed. This quick, careful and continuous cleaning process using brushes which rotate in both directions, with low labor costs and water consumption raises hoof baths to a new level.

Veterinary data

Thanks to hoof cleaning, the occurrence of dermatitis among cows has decreased by 15,6% on average. Also, cleaning costs have gone down significantly (-32%), as well as medical treatment costs (-8%). These improvements, of course, have influenced the decrease of the amount of conditionally usable milk by 6%.
