The “Managing a farm with “Astronaut” milking robots” seminar

On march 15-17 a “Managing a farm with “Astronaut A3/A3 Next” robots” seminar was held in Grodno, presented by Jan Dirk Van Mourik, Manager of Farm Management Support at Lely, Holland. Representatives of 15 farms took part in the seminar. A total of 52 persons attended the event.

During the first day, the participants were introduced to the concept of robotic milking and labor management at a farm. Besides theoretical discussions, practical tasks were given as well. The participants actively discussed and shared their ideas and experience.

The second day was devoted to the T4C herd management system. An analysis of active milking farms based on actual T4C data was conducted. Efficiency indices and robot signals were studied in detail.

During the third day, a trip to the milking complex “Batorovka” of the agricultural production cooperative “Progress-Vertelishki” was made, where Jan Dirk demonstrated the pros and cons of the farm and its equipment, as well as cow health, calves and feed quality. Also, the specifics of the T4C management system were demonstrated on live examples. Jan told the participants about the new “Benchmark” service — the social network for farmers, in which they can communicate and share their knowledge.

Before leaving, the participants exchanged contact data for future cooperation.
